Confused Stinging Nut

I am a tad bit perplexed...Stinging Nut has taken umbrage at my effort to compliment him. He seems to think I was poking fun at him! It must be all you buggers writing all those vile comments about him on the post.

Also for some weird reason is upset that I didn't link his blog to my post. So here goes...

Shitting Nut's Post

Stinging Nut's Post

Also, I am very concerned for my friend Shitting Nut as he displays (as he has in the past) a disturbing fascination with faltering phalli...Jack Point/Theena, maybe that answers your question? Can anyone recommend some treatment to help the poor chap. He must be feeling down.

Apparently he is, at this very moment, putting pen to paper (sorry...fingertips to keyboard) to produce a masterpiece that will slander me to hell and back.

Aiyo....

Excellent Post by Shitting Nut

Mention peacenik at least a 100 times - check
Bravely describe the LTTE as pussies - check
Slander dead men - check
Take swipe at Indi - check
Introduce the possibility of a conspiracy to tarnish our lily-white govt - check
Remind us of the dastardly deeds of the LTTE who killed innocents, politicians, military personnel etc - check
Mention the word pseudo - check

It's good to know we have one sane blogger to remind us of the terrible danger our country is in... ;-)

Another SAARC blog post

The SAARC fiasco is so unreal that I can't quite believe it. But then again this is Sri Lanka where bluster and rhetoric win over hard facts any day.

Let's look at this prestigious club now shall we...

India - good start here...proper democracy and all....
Maldives - ooh...tricky tricky.. man's been in power for a long time and all the main opposition guys are in exile right here in Paradise
Pakistan - proper military dictatorship this...
Bangladesh - another military dictatorship but this one's still in its honeymoon period...time will tell
Nepal - chaos...the rebels are in power now and the last Hindu kingdom is no more
Bhutan - a ray of hope here...the king willingly steps down and the people unwillingly elect a new head of state (how democratic...)
Leaving the best for the last here...
Afghanistan - a real salad bowl of a warzone here...on the side of good and the just..the Americans, the Canadians, the British, the French, the Aussies, the Pakistanis, the Germans, the Uzbekhs etc etc...on the side of the bad and evil...Afghans, Saudis, Yemenis, Qataris, Bosnians etc etc. Very cosmopolitan I must say.
Sri Lanka - never mind...

So we're shutting down most of Colombo, bringing the economy to a standstill, depriving people of the homes and livelihoods...all for this illustrious bunch.

Long live the Chinthana....

Take a bite.....

Yes I know I haven't posted in a long time but it feels good to get back to action writing about something so meaningful. Yesterday was the launch of www.CharityApple.org, a project by the Rotaract Club of Colombo. In a nutshell, this site links up those who want to help, with those who need help.

Most people at some point feel the need to help the less fortunate but just don't know where to begin or how to get about doing so, and this is where CharityApple can play an important role. Upon entering the site, you are given the choice of either contributing in a minute or in a few hours. If you have the inclination to help but just don't have the time, you can choose the former option and donate money to a charity of your choice. If you have more time, however, you can choose to spend some time with a charity of your choice. The categories currently available are Elderly, Relief Work, Children, Animals, Environment, and General.

This is an unconventional concept and move away from the run-of-the-mill charity sites out there in the sense that it empowers people to get involved and make a meaningful contribution, increasing the level of volunteerism in the country. A lot of these charities have adequate funding but many, especially the elders’ homes and the orphanages, lack the personal touch that makes life for those at these places more bearable. Spending time with the elders and the orphans can make a world of a difference for them, much more than any monetary donation.

So... go on….take a bite out of the CharityApple….
